Yigal Natani
Sculptural innovator with copper, brass, ceramics and modern materials
Yigal Natani is an Israeli sculptor from a traditional Israeli Yemenite family. As a young man, Yigal respected his family’s wishes and studied at the Tel Aviv School of Engineering. Yigal quickly adapted his technical training and knowledge of materials to more artistic endeavors. His enquiring mind and passion for innovation led him on an iconoclastic creative path. Natani developed his own sculpture techniques, crafting materials as diverse as plastic and ceramics, and baking them in a kiln.
Yigal Natani was inspired on a human level by the culture and experiences of Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern Europe. His art reflects the profound effect that this ethnic group had on his own psyche. Yigal is a bold and original artist and an unconventional thinker. He is also committed to teaching, and ensuring that Israel produces a new generation of sculptors, with the creativity and confidence to find their own artistic directions.
