Avi Ohayon
Traditional oil paintings of Jerusalem and Safed on wood and stone
Israeli painter Avi Ohayon is a Jerusalemite with a deep love of his native city. Avi pioneered his own distinctive painting style, using oil paints on olive wood and Jerusalem stone. His main subjects are Israel’s two most beautiful and mystical cities: Jerusalem and Safed. Avi is inspired by Safed’s Kabbalistic traditions and by Jerusalem’s holy heritage. His passion for Jewish culture and history is evident in his skilled use of oil paints to portray city scenes, Israeli landscapes and Biblical themes.
Avi Ohayon is a family man who still lives in Jerusalem with his wife and four children. Avi is also the son of a painter, both his, and his father’s paintings achieve worldwide acclaim. Many Israeli artists capture something of the spirit of Jerusalem and Jewish mysticism, but few succeed as well as Avi Ohayon. His stunning personal interpretations of Jerusalem and Safed are among the world’s finest Judaica art.
